Frequently Asked Questions
- Are there any pre-event requirements, like height and weight videos, equipment specs, etc.? Yes, for the Echelon Racing League, all riders are required to register with Zwift Power and provide relevant and accurate info including height and weight, power source calibration. HR monitors and cadence are also required. This is for all fields/ categories choosing to compete.
- For National Championships, additional governance will be provided and data will also need to be submitted to IndieVelo through a third party data portal that will be provided to competitors prior to race day.
- If not, what is the procedure? Are only certain athletes required to submit additional information? Are all racers required to submit data following the race? All categories are required to meet the verification requirements. In addition, racers will be audited using existing Zwift Power data as a baseline, but may be required to submit additional data if requested.
- Will indieVelo perform automatic verification of all athletes at some level? Echelon Racing is working in coordination with Zwift and IndieVelo to ensure verification will be applied to all athletes competing in the ERL.
- Where will the pre- or post-event data be sent? Zwift Power will be our results database for all events.
- During what timeframe will additional information be requested? Within 48 hours of event completion.
- Are all categories required to dual record? Dual recording is not required for Categories B - D of the categories. However, it is strongly suggested for those that have the capability so that a "B-Sample" data set can be provided if the athlete falls into question. However, to remove barriers to entry, this is not a requirement.
- Is there a list of approved equipment that meets the +/- 2% standard? Yes. All racers must use a Zwift approved trainer as outlined by this guiding document.
- Where can the information regarding "All riders who are qualifying for the Elite/ U23 categories as part of USA Cycling eRacing National championships" be found? USA Cycling License holders who compete in and complete one of the first three Echelon Racing League events and meet all verification and governance requirements are eligible to compete in the USA Cycling National Championship events.
- Can athletes who don't compete in the A category during qualification races compete for a national title in other categories, e.g., Age group, etc.? Yes. While the Echelon Racing League is based on Zwift Categories, USA Cycling eSports Nationals will be broken out into Elite and 5yr incremental age graded Masters categories (35 - 70+). A rider may choose to race in both the Masters category on Saturday, January 6th and Elite category on Sunday, January 7th. The only exemption is for riders who hold a UCI Continental license or higher. This protocol follows the USA Cycling National Championships IRL guidelines.
- Will there be standardized bikes and other equipment? Zwift will be "forcing" connection to a direct drive smart trainer and heart rate monitor in order to be eligible to enter the event. Furthermore, the weight and cDa of all bikes will be standardized on the platform, meaning that you can select whichever road bike and wheelset you choose, but the performance of that bike will be standardized.
- What is the required trainer difficulty setting? Trainer difficulty will be standardized to a minimum of 50%. You may choose to go higher than 50%, but the system will not allow users to go below this setting.
